Joy on Market!

Near Market, SF

Near Market, SF

Rarely do we find the perfect pose, the short-lived gesture, the conspiracy of joy on the street. We capture the pathos of the poor, the head-down walk of the harried, and the stress in faces of all kinds. When we get the rare joyous opportunity we often miss the shot. But when we receive the gifts of light and time it’s a delight.

Center for Photographic Art Members Juried Exhibition

The Judge for this exhibition, Heather Snider, the Executive Director of San Francisco Camerawork, selected my photograph made last year in New York City. CPA received over seven hundred submissions. Ms Snider selected forty-five images for exhibition and an additional forty-five for inclusion in the online gallery. I feel humbled to join many photographers whose work I know and admire. Their work, and the photographs of the others I did not know, inspire me to continue my work.

The opening reception is this  Saturday, June 11, at the CPA gallery in Carmel, CA from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. I hope to see you there. For additional information visit http://photography.org/exhibition/mje/.
